Important Notice for California Customers
Due to recently enacted California legislation—Assembly Bill No. 1263, effective January 1, 2026—and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the law’s definitions and scope, Cole Fine Guns & Gunsmithing is updating how firearm parts may be ordered by California customers.
The legislation amends Title 20, Section 3273.51 and places new requirements on the sale and shipment of firearm parts and tools that are designed or intended for use in the manufacture, repair, or modification of firearms. The language of the law is broad and, in many respects, vague, creating significant compliance risk for both customers and sellers.
What This Means for California Customers
Effective immediately, all firearm parts orders destined for California must be placed and shipped through a valid California Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL).
Direct-to-consumer shipments of firearm parts to California addresses will no longer be accepted.
This policy is being implemented to ensure:
- Full compliance with California law
- Protection of our customers’ personal information
- Avoidance of order delays, cancellations, or legal complications
Why This Is Necessary
AB 1263 requires sellers and manufacturers to verify, at minimum:
- Customer age (18+), using a valid state-issued ID
- Shipping address matching the ID
- Adult signature (21+) upon delivery
- Additional compliance steps for parts “clearly designed and intended” for firearm use
Due to the uncertain and expansive interpretation of what may qualify as a regulated part—including triggers, barrels, springs, recoil components, and other common firearm parts—we have elected to route all California firearm-related parts orders through licensed CA FFLs.

Coordinate With Your California FFL
Provide the parts list and product codes to your chosen California FFL so they have all the information needed to place the order accurately and efficiently. -
